What we are now witnessing is the slow motion unraveling of America. Our economy is dying, the American people have lost faith in the government and in almost all of our other major institutions, and our society is collapsing. Most Americans don’t understand why all of this is happening, but most of them do realize that something has fundamentally changed. Earlier this year, McDonald’s held a “National Hiring Day” and a million Americans showed up to apply for jobs. Only 62,000 of them were hired. That means only 6.2% of the applicants got jobs. So what are we supposed to tell the 93.8% that didn’t get hired? Are they supposed to have any hope for the future when they can’t even get a minimum wage job at McDonald’s? When I was a teenager, I went over to McDonald’s one day, filled out an application and was instantly hired. My, how things have changed. Now we have millions upon millions of young people that are staring directly into a very bleak future. The level of frustration in this country is rising to frightening levels and large numbers of people are already showing that they will stoop to anything in order to survive.
In a recent article entitled “18 Signs The Collapse Of Society Is Accelerating” I focused primarily on the chaos that has been erupting in many of our urban areas. But the truth is that, as you will see below, there are signs that society is collapsing coming out of very rural areas as well. This phenomenon cannot just be pinned down to one area of the country or to one group of people. From coast to coast people are already starting to lose it and the economic collapse has only just begun.
The cold, hard reality of the matter is that what we are experiencing right now is rip-roaring prosperity compared to what is coming down the road.
So if people will behave this wildly now, what is our society going to look like someday when there are millions of Americans that have not had anything to eat for several days?
That is something to think about.
History has shown us that when people are really, really hungry they will do just about anything.
But right now we are not even close to that point and yet people all across America are going crazy.
The following are 12 more signs that society is collapsing….
#1 In my previous article, I detailed how the “mob robbery” phenomenon in Chicago is spinning wildly out of control. Well, just this morning, the brother of Billy Corgan (the front man for the Smashing Pumpkins) was mugged and had his iPod stolen by a mob of teens while he was riding a Red Line train in Chicago.
Things have gotten so bad that now even The Wall Street Journal is taking notice of the rash of “mob robberies” that have been happening in Chicago. The following is how a new article in the Journal described one of the recent attacks….
In another incident last Saturday evening, Krzysztof Wilkowski, after shopping on Michigan Avenue, was sitting on his scooter a couple of blocks away checking his phone for a restaurant when he got whacked in the face with a baseball.
At first, he said, he thought it was a prank, but then he looked up and saw 15 to 20 young men approaching. “My first reaction was, ‘I’m about to get robbed, what do I do?’ ” Mr. Wilkowski recalled in an interview.
The 34-year-old insurance company employee from a Chicago suburb grabbed the keys from his ignition and held tight to his phone. A few of the attackers dragged him off his scooter and pulled him onto Chicago Avenue where they punched him, hit him with his helmet and tried to grab his phone.
#2 Sadly, “mob robberies” are not just happening in Chicago. The following is a video of a mob robbery that took place in Stockton, California….

This is a very, very disturbing trend. Once these videos go up on YouTube, other groups of young people “copycat” them all over the country.
The next 10 signs are from some of my readers. In response to my previous article that discussed how society is collapsing, a number of people left comments that described what is happening in their particular areas. Sometimes so many dozens of comments get left that some real gems get overlooked. The following is a sampling of what my readers have been sharing about how society is collapsing where they live….
#3 Golden Child (Third Richest County In America):
About a month ago I was robbed in broad daylight walking to the store on a picture perfect 75 degree sunny day at 1 PM by two high school dropout teenagers on the path in my nice suburban town which is located in third richest county in America! A few months before that I was beaten unconscious by random drunk young people on the path near my home that I woke up in the hospital getting stitches in my face. This will be one dangerous summer for places all across America.
#4 Chris (Fargo, North Dakota):
I live in Fargo,ND and we have been having a rash of crime lately. In the past 6 months we have had multiple gas station robberies, bank robberies, and the latest, a shooting at one of our three movie theaters.
#5 Sue (Ogden, Utah):
I am a teacher in Ogden, Utah and this last winter I had a second grade student tell me that if I didn’t tell him how old I was that he was going to “shoot me in the back of my head.” He was suspended from school because that is a threat of violence, but nothing changed. His parents are active gang members.
#6 Heather (Columbus, Ohio):
I live close enough to Columbus, OH to follow the news there. (Thankfully far enough away not to be regularly affected by it.) Every day there is a new report of a violent crime. I believe we are up to 70 or so murders on the year. 10 years ago this wasn’t the case. I could (and did) walk into the worst part of the city and be safe as long as I was vigilant. I wouldn’t try that for the world now. I used to be a bank teller there and there’d be maybe 1 robbery a month throughout the city. It’s at least one a week now, probably more than that. And it’s no longer the downtown banks that are getting robbed–it’s the suburban ones.
#7 The Baroness (Atlanta):
I live in Atlanta Georgia. Everyday there are signs. Today’s headlines are: Babysitter kills toddler, 2 shot outside teen party, Brick thrown from I-75 overpass and several more.
#8 Gas Panic (Unknown):
The first, a 21 year old pizza delivery girl who was held with a knife to her throat while making a delivery. They took all the money she had on her and even took the time to search her car! The second was a 30 year old woman who told me she was walking down the street and was solicited by a pimp telling her she could “make good money”. After she told him to get lost, he stabbed her in the back of the arm. She needed over twenty stitches and showed me the wound.
#9 NS (Fairbanks, Alaska):
Even in Fairbanks, Alaska, there has been similar “mob robbing” going on. Yes, it is spreading everywhere.
#10 Katherine (Unknown):
I’ve also seen a huge increase in theft, vandalism, sexual assault, and violence just in the past couple of years. This is in a city that used to make the list in top places to live in the U.S. year after year.
#11 Doktryn (Richmond, California):
I live in Richmond California aka the city with the 2nd highest murder rate next to New Orleans, aka the city where the probability of you being killed is 5x higher. It is getting very serious out here, and luckily I don’t live in the rough part, however I go to the rough part to try to witness and preach. People are walking zombies. At any point their lives can be taken but the fact is, this is all they know. It is completely hopeless and when you wrote about “American Hellholes” I live in one. Richmond, CA is a post-industrial warzone. I work in the manufacturing industry, and I got here not long ago, but if you just drive through the city, the boarded up homes and abandoned warehouses tell the tale of how a deindustrialized city quickly turns to a battlefield.
#12 IWillSurvive (Rural America):
In my area we have been able to sleep well enough and always known our neighbors – up until a few months ago I did not lock my cars or my home most of the time – there was no need. That has changed, neighbors are now siphoning gas out of cars from desperation, and stealing scrap lumber, metal, livestock, produce and anything else they can get their hands on to sell or eat. Over the last year or so the police departments of some areas have started taking these seriously and actually investigated and caught a few. They are sometimes groups of people working together to amass resources to sell. We now keep a vigilant eye on our little flock of chickens and we have a colony of rabbits as well. We no longer “free range” them on our property at all – the risk of theft is too high if others know we have them. We keep any resources away from the road on the back side of our property – we also keep two German Shepherd Dogs for guarding our property. Living in the country is NOT what it used to be.
———————————————————
Sadly, this is just the beginning.
This is just the tip of the iceberg.
As the economy collapses, the chaos is going to get a lot worse.
I wish that wasn’t true, but this is the world we live in now.
The recent article I did about the “economic hell” that American families are going through right now got a huge response, but honestly what we are experiencing right now is not even worth comparing to how nightmarish things are going to be when our economic system fully collapses.
We have been on the biggest debt binge that the world has ever seen. Our debt-fueled prosperity has enabled us to enjoy an unprecedented standard of living. But the largest debt bubble in the history of the world is going to pop, and when it does the party is going to be over.
You better get ready.

Eri, the other 95% of the world's population is not in control of the economy to the extent the U.S. is, or of political policy. American economic and political policy at home and abroad is to blame, this is a case of unwitting self-harm over half a century, not harm from without.
Culturally the U.S. is simply backward. Large swathes of the population live in a religious dream-world and a media saturated simulacrum of a real society. Look at the knee-jerk reactions in the comments above about having some kind of Wild West stand-off with a "Glock" in reaction to the breakdown of society.
And then almost 3/4 of Americans automatically think the 'gubment' is nefariously behind the collapse of the real economy, behind mass job outsourcing. When that is dismissed as foolish they turn to reluctantly blame corrupt big-business, anything to maintain the fantasy that modern complex capitalism is America's saviour "if only it wasn't hijacked". The great Libertarian utopia.
Welfarism is the price paid for rapid capitalist accumulation in a society unwilling to tolerate the conditions and lot of the Labour market of the 19th century and early 20th. This economy can't sustain full employment without a drop in living standard expectations and a mechanism for equitable resource allocation. The 1950s can't be recreated, and even the 1950s had millions of people still relatively poor in America.
It has taken 60 years since the end of WWII to ruin this country. The USA made a conscious effort to improve the economy of the world by rebuilding Europe, tweaking our tax laws to encourage offshore investments, etc, etc, etc. Our businesses quickly learned to outsource as the quality of imported products improved. The "first movers" who located efficient sources have made a lot of money, ie, Walmart. However, every dollar spent overseas meant one less dollar not spent on American wages. The American unions although well meaning have driven per unit labor costs well above imported products. Those same unions have also resisted many attempts to mechanize and automate process to more efficiently utilize those higher priced American workers. The net result is that the employers are faced with high priced local labor and are prevented from buying state of the art production equipment (mainly produced by American workers)
With that as a back drop, we have all of the entitlement programs that promise everyone a life of milk and honey. We now have about 1/2 of the population receiving some sort of govt payments. How can our country have a 1st world standard of living when 1/2 of the country is non-productive.
Many of the efforts to uplift the lower portion of the food chain have had admirable goals, however the law of unintended consequences has repeatedly operated perfectly. The people who set up these programs consistently assume people will do the "right" thing and not misuse the system. People consistently make the choices that are to their short term benefit. I.E., a person using the emergency room because there is no co-pay instead of going to the family doctor where a $10 co-pay is required. They don't care that the ER visit is 10 times the cost of the doctor visit, they saved $10.
The net result of all of this is that millions of middle class jobs have permanently disappeared. There just are not the opportunities that our parent enjoyed in the 50's and 60's. We have had all sorts of attempts to stimulate the economy, the most recent being the disgrace in the subprime market. None of these programs will have any lasting beneficial effect as we are not creating any wealth, we are only rearranging and increasing debt.
We went from an oil exported to an oil importer in the 50's and have shipped our patrimony to all corners of the world. We have let the NIMBY mentality force many critical industries industries offshore rather than developing process improvements. We have not built an oil refinery in the US for over 30 years. We ended up recently with the Chinese controlling about 98% of rare earth production!! Talk about a strategic material !!
I am not advocating an isolationist policy. I am advocating policies that encourage and reward domestic investment and sourcing.. One critical change to the tax code in 1986 eliminated the Investment Tax Credit (ITC). At that time it was very simple, you received a direct tax credit of up to 10% of new equipment purchased for business purposes. Because some companies like GE spent so much, their tax bills were essentially eliminated. The result was that American industry was always up to date, always efficient and well supported the equipment suppliers. Those equipment suppliers were always improving the production equipment to gain revenue. It was a virtuous circle. When the ITC was eliminated, equipment purchases plummeted. Owners began to try to eke out the last few units of production rather than buying new equipment.
We need another "space program". The space program drove the development of technology. We benefited for decades from the discoveries and inventions developed in the laboratories of NASA and their contractors. If we put even a portion of the effort of the race to the Moon into developing really superb batteries, we could make major changes in the consumption of gas. If we developed really efficient solar cells and encouraged their use, the demand on the electrical grid would be dramatically reduced. IE, we would not need to build so many new plants, burn so much coal, etc, etc. It would be nice to be a leader again.
Add to all of that is the deliberate non enforcement of the southern border and the massive inflow of illegal workers. When they work, they are paid under the table, depress local wages, are exploited, and generally make the "wrong" choices due to their illegal status. When they don't work, they are a burden on the entitlement programs.
The people who have jobs are hunkered down, trying to survive until their retirement. People clamber for government jobs because they are less prone to layoffs. Risk taking is greatly reduced as people seek "safety".
As great as our country once was, the combined efforts of the other 95% of the world's population and our politicians have seriously damaged virtually every portion of our society. I cannot think of any aspect of our culture that has improved relative to the rest of the world in the past 60 years. To my knowledge, every statistic has declined.
IF OUR COUNTRY WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME WILL HUMBLE THEMSELVES AND PRAY AND SEEK MY FACE AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, THEN WILL I HEAR FROM HEAVEN AND WILL FORGIVE THEIR SIN AND WILL HEAL THEIR LAND. 2 CHRONICLES 7:14
Right now they are meeting in St. Moritz Switzerland to decide our fate. David Rockefeller and the globalist Vampires run this mess and have for a long time. 911, the USA Patriot Act, invading the middle east to control most of the oil, the Caspian, ship more of our real economy to Chindia, Thailand, Mexico, while expanding the military? Detroit anyone? First thing in a war is taking our their manufacturing base-well??? All our global corporations are controlled and owned by a few bankers-Bilderbergers and they already have their global currency-credit cards! Can't even park at the airport without one now and they're good anywhere on earth. Next phase is tying those with RFID/GPS tracking and a "chip" inside your body for total control of the world. You object? Heck they'll just cut off your credit! Stocks track the direction of the global oil price! Gold, commodities, stocks trade inversly! Watch that oil price! The dollar is how you purchase oil so when oil declines the dollar'svalue goes up! You trade off those trends.
Taxes are how we pay for the services that the gov't provides. Noone rich or poor makes money in a vacuum.
The infrastructure provided by the gov't assists in the economic process. Therefore taxes are a necessity.
If noone pays taxes then there wll be no infrastructure to support the economic process. Those that make the most therefore should pay the most. This is not some socialist plot to redistribute the wealth, besides if the wealthy paid the workers more the gov't would not have to get involved. The wealthiest people and companies use the most of the public resoureces, therefore they should pay the most in taxes. You can't tax someone with nothing. In fact for the wealthy to continue to enjoy their standard of living, they better pay the taxes or the gov't resources will not be available for them to continue to make money. Funny how all things are connected. anyone who thinks this is crazy need only google the French Revolution, and see how that turned out for the greedy wealthy. Alot of heads rolled. We can continue down this path of wealth consolidation in a few hands at our own peril. History can and will repeat itself.
Frank, you are watching way too much of the Democrat (mainstream) media.
The 2nd amendment is the solution, open carry. That will make some of these lowlifes think twice , if one or 2 of them is going to eat a bullet. It is going to be just like the old west was.
We can thank the government for taking G-d out of the classroom. It is a standard communist plot, and in collusion is the banking cartel that has printed all the money and charges us interest in tax dollars to do so, even though it is a job that is regulated to congress by the Constitution.
End the Fed!
Get the Un out of the US and the US out of the UN!
No NWO
Nicely said, Patrick…"Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six…"
I am thankful to live in a secure cul de sac in the country. The neighbors are all vigilant and look out for one another (funny isn’t that the way it’s supposed to be?)
I have 5 dogs and a killer GOAT (Elvis) No kidding he will put a horn up your rear if you don’t watch it!
My wife has 17%oc on her keychain and carries a 4million volt 12.5 amp taser and she knows how to use them as I have trained her on a regular basis (Former USAF SAS)
I carry my HK 45acp at all times and have several other arms at the ready in different locations throughout my home.
GOD HELP ANY PUNKS THAT WANT TO THREATEN MY HOME OR FAMILY IN ANY WAY. I WILL NOT HESITATE TO USE OVER EXTREME FORCE TO QUELL ANY THREAT.
One of the major differences in Western society in the 1930's and today is the influence of Christianity. The problem with violence during the great depression was there but not as bad or wide-spread as today. It was their morality, respect and fear-of-God that kept them in line.
Today, the geniuses who are systematically trying to destroy Christianity (Freedom From Religion groups et al.), are, at least partially to blame for a whole generation of citizens with no respect for others rights or for the law and that the world owes them a living (destruction of the Christian work-ethic).
WAKE UP YOU BRAIN DEAD PEOPLE! READ AND DIGEST WHAT RICHARD CLOWARD AND FRANCIS FOX PIVEN HAVE BEEN TEACHING FOR THE PAST 50 YEARS. ALL OF WHAT YOU SEE GOING ON IS PRECISELY WHAT THE DIABOLICAL COMMUNISTS, PROGRESSIVES, SOCIALISTS, AND HATERS OF FREEDOM, LIBERTY, AND INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY ARE ALL ABOUT. BRING ABOUT CHAOS, STRIFE, AND HOPLESSNESS, AND A SOCIETY WILL DISINTEGRATE, AND BE REPLACED WITH A TOTALITARIAN SYSTEM WHEREIN ORWELLS "ANIMAL FARM" NAPOLEON (HEAD HOG) SAID "WE ARE ALL CREATED EQUAL, HOWEVER, SOME OF US ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS"! HILLARY,& BILL CLINTON, WILLIAM AYERS, BERNADINE DOEHRN, BARACK H. OBAMA, MICHELLE OBAMA, ET AL !
IT IS FAR TO LATE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT , FOR THE TRAP HAS ALREADY "SLAMMED SHUT"!
The above examples are very real examples of how violent things are getting out there
but are very isolated examples. For years, the conservatives, and the GOP much more so than the
democrats have launched an all out attack on the middle class. The basis for the state of the economy
being in the cesspool is, in my opinion, a result of the free trade policies which began with Clinton
and were implemented under the Bush administration. Free trade killed the US manufacturing base,
and its never going to return until free trade is removed. After giving away the manufacturing jobs, we all
thought we would be OK since we still had the professional jobs, and the service industry. Well the professional jobs need to be close to the manufacturers, and if the companies had so much fun exporting
the manufacturing jobs, why not do the same with the professional jobs? The politicians and the companies
have been crying for ever more H-1B visas so they could have the current professional workers train their replacements. But, we still had the service jobs, so everything will be OK. Enter stage left the 20 to 30 million illegal aliens to fill the ranks of the American service workers while the the democrats look the other way, and the republican CEOs look for every loophole so they can hire them quietly.
The grand result of all this is the unemployment we have today. Its time to end free trade, end these stupid wars which go on forever, have the companies and the wealthy pay their share of the taxes, get rid of every
illegal alien, and put Americans back to work.
Then lets clean up the political election process, and have the government fund all elections 100%. Let the
TV, radio, and cable networks air the political ads as a public service, at cost. Finally any politician who accepts any income other than salary and government election funds goes to jail, for life.
that go on forever
Define Wealthy.
Every year the definition of “wealthy” changes. In some areas, wealthy is defined as anyone who has a job. We already have that. It’s called an income tax. Why not set the tax rate at some level and get rid of deductions? That way corporations do not get a tax break for offshoring; those who own second homes don’t get interest deductions; and we won’t need the IRS. My guess is that the money corporations save from not having to pay the middleman for the sole purpose of managing tax liabilities can be used for more production, including making products people want to buy.
Flat tax and term limits will stop the incessant campaigning.
There is only one measure that will work: arm yourselves.
We are reaping what we have sown. Our military industrial complex of constantly selling weapons to other countries for profit has a very high price to be paid in spades. Amerika is dead, learn to live with it.
For about 38 years I have been praying for a Third Great Awakening, the awakening which will win the whole earth to Christ and every soul on it in one generation and continue for a total of 1000 generations. The saying is, “The darkest hour is just before the dawn,” is truly fulfilled in the death of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross.. God has promised that once more, He will shake not the earth only but Heaven also. How would He do that? I would have thought that He shook Heave, when He sent His son to die on Calvary. Can it be that the shaking of Heaven also will be due to the fact that the very influenec and presence of Heaven itself will be sent down to earth? After all, Isaiah does cry, “Drop down, ye heavens.”(Isa.45:8) Could such a Heavenly Presence, “Heaven came down,” be manifested to back up the preaching of the Gospel which would result in the conversion of the whole earth? Since God has promised a seed to the Patriarchs as innumerable as the stars of heaven, the sand of the sea, and the dust of the earth, there must come to pass some immeasurable greater awakening than we have ever imagined. We also learn in Revelation of the redeemed in Heaven being a number that no one can number. Can that be the humor of our God showing through, to allay our painful anxieties and to arouse our apprehensions of the greatest of blessings?
Now the naysayers on the right to keep and bear arms and CCW maybe will understand ONE very important reason for the second amendment to the constitution. We don't carry weapons because we are afraid, we are unafraid because we carry weapons. DUH!!!
The fire fights that the US is engaged in now are not wars. They are merely theatres of military activity. They don't do anything but drain off the true nationalists and put them somewhere outside of the national boundaries which are not defendedd at all.
The Free trade act should be abolished and any product from any other country should have the same worker standards that are found in the US. Instead of competing with slave labor, all nations should be competing with a high standard of labor unions, protections and practices. What's good for the AMerican workers should be good enough for everyone throughout the world. No more chinese slave laborers, no more Indian low caste laborers. Until globalism is rejected the US will continue to dissolve into chaos to become like the third world nations it competes against..
Guns and bullets aren't going to be the deterrence that one might think. As the crime arena gains ground there will be more people with loaded guns. Unfortunately it will be the gangs who have the most guns and the least amount of conscience about using them.
We are living at the heighth of the golden age of human history. Americans have had it better than anyone else in all of history. Now the bitter truths of ancient history will come bearing down on us with a vengence.
The US government did a think tank conversation on the ability of the US to survive peacefully in a basically peaceful world. (white paper called, the Iron Mountain conference) It was concluded that peace would fracture the US social structure. The US has been at peace since 1945. It has not gone to war, its national identity has not been threatened by any totalitarian regime. The cold war was stable and peaceful. Nothing short of a severe military threat to the government and social order of society will help to stop the criminal activities from increasing.
This is the report you cite and it's location as a PDF.

Peace since 1945? What about Korea? Viet Nam? The Gulf? Afghanistan? The inaccuracy would be risible, if it were not an insult to our brave troops who have put their lives on the line in these, er, conflicts. The toll on our economy has cost us our "pride of place" in the world scene. Is that your idea of stability?
Lock and load, baby. Every homeowner should have a gun in his home and know how to use a gun to protect himself and his property. In the right to carry states, it is time to carry for your protection where it is legal as well.
The losers and thugs only understand one thing—-force.
The problem with a gun in the home, is that’s where it will be when you need it.
I am always armed, except when I have to travel into DC as then I would be the criminal if found carrying. It’s too bad that is where I might need it most
I had to literally run for my life one night in DC after leaving work at 1am.
Most police officers in rural areas understand that an armed citizen is their backup and last line of defense. If we are not careful and vigilant, very soon in this county only the criminals will be carrying guns, and anarchy will reign.
Step #1! Vote out the democrates. Step #2 vote conservative.
Glock 21 with multiple 16 rd clips – carry fully loaded and an extra 5 on you – the weight isn't bad and it gives you just under 100 rounds – now that will stimulate the economy by either increasing SCI's business (google it) or the add'l natgas used to torch the corpses . . . and if you think you have a better idea, let''s hear it.
As an avid gun owner, I agree. But in reality its fiction. The problem lies with the change in cultures in America. Sadly, the Latino and Hispanic families have no drive for advancment or higher education. Our black Americans have come a long way, and the majority of families believe in education…kudo's to all of them for focus and ambition. This country is a services country and not a manufactureing one. With that said, we can only use so many ditch diggers….the rest will drag down our way of life. As an economist, i need to remind Americans that we are a very young and new country as compared to the rest of the world. Our four fathers never dreamed of a lazy and demanding country. How they must be turning in their graves now!
Nice try,it wasn't any of the black, jhispanic ,or other people that sent our jobs overseas. It was the rich white corporate elites and congress men you elect to the white house.Ron reagan, the treasonist bas ard, herbert walker bush,,slick willie clinton, and of course brain dead recent bush.Globalization, free trade, and harvard, oxford uni., caused these problems.Execute the bilderbergs, bankers,,and the problem is solved.
My goodness. This is so depressing. What is the solution? We as a society cannot allow this to happen to our country. We cannot let these thugs take over
