Reports from Gasbuddy.com reveal major pain at the pump for Florida motorists. According to the website, drivers are paying $5.89 for regular gas, with premium customers paying $5.99 per gallon.
“Prices over in the Disney World area are much higher than any other place in Florida,” Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman, told CBS Tampa. She added that complaints are commonplace in that area.
According to Gasbuddy.com, Florida motorists are paying an average of $3.67 a gallon of unleaded gasoline.
One of the main reasons for current high gas prices is the ongoing conflict with Iran. Iran has repeatedly threatened to disrupt the transfer of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, due to the European Union’s economic sanctions.
Another reason for the increase in gas price is overall demand stemming from recent, positive, economic indicators. With a drop in unemployment and an improving housing market, gas prices have increased across the country.
Not surprisingly, experts are predicting that the U.S. will continue to see record gas prices, especially with the summer months coming quickly. Florida drivers are certainly feeling the price, but if it is any consolation, they are not paying the most for gas. Alaskans right now are paying a crazy $6.34 for a gallon of regular gas. While on the flip side Wyoming residents are paying just $2.75.
