11 Deeply Alarming Facts About America’s Crumbling Infrastructure

No matter what your particular political perspective is, if there is one thing that virtually everyone in the United States can agree upon it is the fact that America’s infrastructure is crumbling.  Previous generations of Americans conquered an entire continent and erected the greatest system of infrastructure that the world had ever seen, but now thousands upon thousands of those extremely impressive infrastructure projects are decades old and in desperate need of repair or upgrading.  The near catastrophic failure of the Oroville Dam is a perfect example of what I am talking about.  We should be constructing the next generation of infrastructure projects for our children and our grandchildren, but instead we are in such sorry shape that we can’t even keep up with the maintenance and upkeep on the great infrastructure projects that have been handed down to us.

Once upon a time nobody on the entire planet could even come close to matching our infrastructure, but now our crumbling infrastructure has become a joke to much of the rest of the industrialized world.  Sadly, this is just another symptom of our long-term economic collapse.  We simply are not able to put as much of our money toward infrastructure as previous generations of Americans did, and as a result we have a giant mess on our hands.  The following are 11 deeply alarming facts about America’s crumbling infrastructure…

#1 According to the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, nearly 56,000 bridges in the United States are currently “structurally deficient”.  What makes that number even more chilling is the fact that vehicles cross those bridges a total of 185 million times a day.

#2 More than one out of every four bridges in the United States is more than 50 years old and “have never had major reconstruction work”.

#3 America does not have a single airport that is considered to be in the top 25 in the world.

#4 The average age of America’s dams is now 52 years.

#5 Not too long ago, the American Society of Civil Engineers gave the condition of America’s dams a “D” grade.

#6 Overall, the American Society of Civil Engineers said that the condition of America’s infrastructure as a whole only gets a “D+” grade.

#7 Congestion on our highways costs Americans approximately 101 billion dollars a year in wasted fuel and time.

#8 According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, over two-thirds of our roads are “in dire need of repair or upgrades”.

#9 In order to completely fix all of our roads and bridges, it would take approximately 808 billion dollars.

#10 Federal spending on infrastructure has decreased by 9 percent over the past decade.

#11 According to Bloomberg, it is being projected “that by 2025, shortfalls in infrastructure investment will subtract as much as $3.9 trillion from U.S. gross domestic product.”

The quality of our infrastructure affects all of our lives every single day.  For instance, we all simply take it for granted that safe, clean drinking water is going to come out of our taps, but recent events have shown that is not necessarily always going to be the case.

Just ask the residents of Flint, Michigan.

Water pipes, sewer systems and water treatment facilities all over the nation are aging and are in desperate need of repair.  Of course the exact same thing could be said about our power grid.  It was never intended to handle so many people, and on the hottest days of the summer the strain on the grid is very evident.

And of course the power grid is exceedingly vulnerable to an electromagnetic pulse event, and this is something that I covered in my book on getting prepared.  It has been projected that it would only cost a couple billion dollars to harden the grid against an EMP event, but our politicians refuse to spend the money.

Meanwhile, President Trump is completely correct when he says that our airports look like something that you would see in a third world country.  Most of our airports are at least several decades old, and they are definitely showing their age.

But things are even worse when you look at other systems of mass transit around the country.  While other nations such as Japan and China are investing huge amounts of money into high speed rail, we are doing next to nothing even though what we currently have is absolutely pathetic.

I could go on and talk about our ports, schools, waterways, parks, etc. but I think that you get the point.

President Trump’s instincts are right on the money when he says that he wants to spend a trillion dollars on infrastructure.  Without a doubt, we desperately need it.

The problem is that we are flat broke.

We are 20 trillion dollars in debt, and we are adding more than a trillion dollars to that total every year.

So where are we going to get the money?

It is easy for liberals to say that we should raise taxes, but how much more are you going to squeeze out of U.S. consumers?  Two-thirds of the country is living paycheck to paycheck, and we just learned that U.S. household debt has risen to a grand total of 12.58 trillion dollars.

Once upon a time, America was the wealthiest nation on the entire planet and we could afford to construct bold, new infrastructure projects from sea to shining sea.

But today we have the biggest mountain of debt in the history of the world and we can’t even afford to repair what we already have.

When I speak of our long-term economic collapse, this is precisely the sort of thing that I am talking about.  We have clearly been in decline for a very long time, and anyone that would suggest otherwise is simply not being honest with you.

You know they were voted in to reverse the damage Obama and the Democrats did, and to make America great again.

What do you think of a majority of Democrats saying their party should work with the President (that is Trump by the way) and that they don’t approve of their party opposing him and trying to destroy his administration like they are?

  • JohnDille

SO… YOU FINALLY… FINALLY… FINALLY ADMIT THAT REPUBLICAN ARE TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE HUGE NATIONAL DEBT, AND FOR THE SLOW ECONOMIC GROWTH IN THIS COUNTRY, AND FOR THE DEEP AND GROWING DIVIDE BETWEEN THE RICH AND THE REST OF US, AND FOR THE RACIAL AND OTHER POLARIZATION IN THIS COUNTRY, AND FOR THE MASSIVE INFLUX OF ILLEGALS, AND FOR OUR CRUMBLING INRASTRUCTURE?? WELL… CONGRATULATIONS FOR FINALLY WISING UP… AND ADMITTING THAT WHAT WE DEMOCRATS HAVE BEEN TRYING TO TELL YOU STUPID REPUBLICANS FOR THE PAST 45 YEARS, IS TRUE!!! REPUBLICANS HAVE BEEN GETTING EVER MORE POWERFUL EVER SINCE THE VERY EARLY 1970’S… AND NOW THAT YOU IDIOTS TOTALLY CONTROL EVERYTHING, YOU WILL FINALLY HAVE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE NIGHTMARE DISASTERS THAT YOU REPUBLICANS HAVE CAUSED! BUT… OF COURSE… YOU WILL CONTINUE TO BLAME OBAMA AND THE DEMOCRATS… BECAUSE REPUBLICANS ARE THE PARTY OF TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS!!! RIGHT????

  • daniel1154

Republicans would rather have the Presidency, House, Senate, 33 Governorships, 69 of 99 state legislatures, total control of 25 states and working control of 20 others, leaving the Democraps with 15 Governorships and 5 state legislatures. A lot of good that 3 million vote margin did. Wait until Trump eliminates the election fraud Democraps have been living off of for 20 years now and the Democraps will go the way of the whig party.

  • JohnDille

REPUBLICANS ARE SOO SO SO ASHAMED OF DONALD TRUMP’S 3 ,MILLION VOTE LOSS THAT THEY HIDE ALL EVIDENCE OF PRESIDENT HILLARY CLINTON’S EXISTENCE!!! NOTICE HOW THEY NO LONGER SCREAM LOCK HER UP EVERY TIME TRUMP GETS UP ON THE STAGE??? SO… EITHER ALL OF THAT WAS JUST POLITICAL BALONEY…. OR TRUMP LOST AND HILLARY IS NOW OUR PRESIDENT… AND THE MEDIA… WHO TOTALLY SUPPORTED TRUMP… IS GOING ALONG WITH THE CHARADE!!! THEY SURE WOULD BE EMBARASSED IF ALL OF THEIR VIEWERS REALIZED THAT THEY SUPPORTED A LOSER… SO IT IS IN THE MEDIA’S BEST INTERESTS TO GO ALONG WITH THE DELUSION THAT TRUMP IS NOW THE PRESIDENT!!! AND REPUBLICANS ARE REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOD WITH GOING ALONG WITH DELUSIONS!!! YOU MOST CLEARLY ARE!!! BUT… ON THE OTHER HAND… YOU ARE RIGHT… DONALD TRUMP IS PRESIDENT… OF SOME ISOLATED AUTONOMOUS REGION IN RUSSIA!!! HIS BUDDY PUTIN DECIDED TO LET TRUMP THINK HE HAS REAL POWER, AND HE NEEED A PUPPET TO RULE OVER LOWER SLOBOVIA ANYWAY… SO… HAIL TRUMP… PRESIDENT OF LOWER SLOBOVIA… POPULATION 3,500… NOT COUNTING HALF A MILLION REINDEER AND GOPHERS, OF COURSE!!! WE CAN HOPE THAT YOU WILL SOON VISIT THERE… AND DECIDE TO STAY THERE… PERMANENTLY!!! MAYBE SOMEONE… SOMEWHERE… WILL ACTUALLY MISS YOU!!! BUT I WILL NOT!!!

  • daniel1154

Dillie. For some reason I can’t find President Hillary Clinton anywhere. I did see President Trump on TV last night though. Your mental state, and that of many Democrats these days, is really bad.

  • JohnDille

THE ELECTION IS OVER… AND TRUMP LOST… BY ALMOST 3 MILLION VOTES!!! GET OVER IT!!!

  • daniel1154

Democrats fixed the nomination process and screwed crazy Bernie and his supporters. It’s one of the reasons Clinton lost the election. They also refuse to accept the results of the election held in accordance with the constitution, whining like a bunch of babies. “Not my President”. Give me a break. Who the hell cares what the left thinks. Republicans won this election fair and square despite all of the voter fraud Democrats have been able to institutionalize over the years. Trump will change that, and Democrats may never win another national election again; just the little left wing enclaves they can win in. Represents about 13% of the country.

  • JohnDille

WHAT… YOU OPPOSE REAL DEMOCRACY??? DEMOCRATS BELIEVE IN AND PRACTICE REAL DEMOCRACY, EVEN WHEN THE RESULTS ARE NOT WHAT THEY WNTED! YOU REPUBLICANS ON THE OTHER HAND… HATE REAL DEMOCRACY!!! YOU BUSTED ALL THE UNIONS, WHICH WERE OFTEN THE CLOSEST THING TO REAL DEMOCRACY IN EXISTANCE. AND NOW… TWICE IN THE LAST 16 YEARS… YOU USED A SLAVE OWNING ELITES ELECTION LAW TO ELECT YOUR PRESIDENTS, WHEN REAL DEMOCRACY WOULD HAVE KEPT THEM OUT OF OFFICE! YOU REPUBLICANS ARE DOING ALL YOU CAN TO SUPPRESS THE RIGHT OF BLACK PEOPLE AND BROWN PEOPLE AND WOMEN AND POOR PEOPLE TO VOTE… ECAUSE THOSE FOLKS OVERWHELMINGLY VOTE DEMOCRATIC. AND YOU HAVE GERRYMANDERED SO MANY SOLIDLY REPUBLICAN STATES THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR DEMOCRATS TO WIN IN THOSE STATES… AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR DEMOCRATS TO WIN THE US HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES… EVEN WHEN… AS THEY USAULLY DO… THEY GET A MAJORITY OR NEAR MAJORITY OF ALL THE VOTES FOR REPRESENTATIVES!!! SO… WHAT THE FREDAK DO YOU REPUBLICANS KNOW ABOUT REAL DEMOCRACY??? NOTHING… AND IN FACT… THE REPUBLICAN PARTY OF AT LEAST THE LAST 140 YEARS HAS MOSTLY BEN THE PARTY OF VOTER SUPPRESSION AND OF FASCISM AND OF LIBERTY AND FREEDOM… BUT ONLY FOR THE RICH!!! THAT IS MORE TRUE TODAY THAN IT HAS BEEN IN MOST OF US HISTORY…. AND THAT MEANS THAT… YOU REPUBLICANS WOULD HAVE BEEN RIGHT AT HOME IN HITLERS 3RD RIECH!!! WHICH IS WHY YOU ARE HADES BENT ON CREATING A 4TH REICH IN HIS HONOR…. A MOVE THAT WE DEMOCRATS WILL FIGHT TOOTH AND NAIL… BECAUSE WE ARE REAL AMERICANS… AND YOU REPUBLICANS ARE NOT!!!

  • daniel1154

Did you get this opinion piece from one of your left wing fake news sites? The Democrat party is in a civil war because the nomination process was rigged in favor of Clinton, and they got their clocks cleaned in the election. The likes of Keith Ellison is likely to emerge as the face of the party, lurching even further leftward and sealing their position as a minority party, unable to win nationally. Obama lined the pockets of his wealthy backers with taxpayer money; see Solyndra for an example.

Republicans Loved Stimulus When Bush Was in the White House

Back Then, Helping Boost Economic Growth Was Bipartisan

By Michael Linden, John Griffith, and Jordan Eizenga |Posted on August 31, 2011

    AP/Ron Edmonds President
George W. Bush, surrounded by members of Congress, signs the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, Wednesday, February 13, 2008, in the East Room of the White House in Washington.

Stimulus is now a dirty word, especially among Republicans
in Congress. But it wasn’t always so. In January 2008 when the economic picture was far less dire and the unemployment rate was only 4.8 percent, 165
Republicans in the House of Representatives and 33 Republican senators voted to pass a stimulus package with an estimated cost of $652 billion. That package provided tax cuts of up to $600 for individuals or $1,200 for married couples, plus an additional $300 per child.

The bill also contained a number of large but supposedly temporary tax breaks for businesses. And just in case you
thought President George W. Bush’s stimulus bill was simply a bunch of tax cuts for upper income households… which it was… , it also included $40 billion in direct spending. The legislation was even called the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008.

President Bush lauded the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 forproviding “a booster shot for our economy … [putting] money back into the hands of American workers and businesses.” Reps. Eric Cantor (R-VA) and John Boehner
(R-OH) as well as Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) all seemed to agree, as did nearly 200 other Republican members of Congress that voted in support of the bill.

I GUESS THAT YOU RIGHT WING REPUBLICANS JUST NATURALLY ASSUME THAT EVERYONE IS AS STUPID AS YOU ARE… AND THAT EVERYONE BELIEVES YOUR ENDLESS LIES AND DISTRORTIONS!! WELL.. THANKS TO THE INTERNET, WE CAN OFTEN PROVE THAT REPUBLICAN LIES ARE JUST THAT!!!

  • daniel1154

Took leave of your senses Dillie. Trump has put you over the edge to total insanity. Obama passed a trillion dollar stimulus bill that was really a payout to his cronies.

DEFENSE SPENDING IS A MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR PART OF OUR INFRASTRUCTURE SPENDING!!! IT COSTS US HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS PER YEAR TO BUILD AND MAINTAIN ALL THE BASES AND EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES AND MANPOWER NEEDED TO KEEP OUR GLOBAL MILITARY SYSTEM OPERATIONAL… AND MOST OF THAT MONEY GETS SPENT RIGHT HERE IN THE USA!!! CUT MILITARY SPENDING BY MUCH… AND THE US ECONOMY HITS THE SKIDS… BIG TIME… AND FAST!!! AND IT WOULD NOT MATTER WHICH DEFENSE SPENDING WAS CUT… HERE AT HOME.. OR ANYWHERE OVERSEAS!!!

Y9OU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT… GEORGE BUSH JUNIOR SIGNED THE STIMULUS BILL THAT YOU ARE REFERING TO, AND OF COURSE IT WAS LOADED WITH GOODIES FOR HIS RICH REPUBLICAN SUPPORTERS!!!

  • daniel1154

The stimulus bill passed Dillie, and you know it. Obama handed it to his bag holder cronies instead of spending it on infranstructure. Typical crooked Democrat, using the power of goverenment to reward his friends.

LIKE I SAID EARLIER… YOU MAY KNOW A LOT ABOUT THE FACTS OF HISTORY, BUT YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT HISTORY REALLY MEANS IS VERY SUPERFICIAL AND BLINDED BY YOUR CHILDISH IDEOLOGIES!!! THE US AND WORLD ECONOMIC SYSTEMS ARE VERY VERY COMPLEX AND MASSIVE… AND IF SOMETHING TRIGGERS SOME MAJOR HOUSE OF CARDS… OR DOMINOES TYPE… OF COLLAPSE, THAT WILL BE VERY MESSY AND PAINFUL!!! BUT… THE UNITED STATES IS A PRAGMATIC NATION, AND WE WILL FAIRLY QUICKLY BULLDOZE THE BIG MESS ASIDE, AND REBUILD THE SHATTERED SYSTEM! NEVER FORGET THAT THE UNITED STATES… LIKE MANY OF THE MAJOR NATIONS IN EUROPE… HAVE ENDURED CRASH AFTER CRASH AFTER CRASH…. AND GENERALLY, THOSE IN POWER SWEEP ASIDE THE LITTER AND REBUILD, USUALLY WITHIN JUST A COUPLE OF YEARS… AND ALMOST ALWAYS, THEY CREATE A SYSTEM THAT IS BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER BEFORE! BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT LIBERALS DO… AND THAT IS WHY LIBERALS ARE FAR SUPERIOR TO CHILDISH IDEOLOGY BOUND CONSERVATIVES LIKE YOURSELF!!!

  • JohnDille

GO PEDDLE YOUR RIGHT WING NONSENSE TO YOUR ISIS BUDDIES!!! THE UNITED STATES IS A HIGHLY PRAGMATIC NATION FULL OF MOSTLY PRAGMTIC PEOPLE!!! WE DO WHAT WE DO TO PROTECT OUR BEST INTERESTS… AND OUR BEST INTERESTS ARE SERVED BY SWEEPING CRIMINALS AND TERRORISTS AND THEIR ALLIES INTO THE ABYSS OF HISTORY!!! DO WE BLUNDER AND DO STUPID STUFF??? YEAH… AND THAT IS WHY WE HAVE ELECTIONS… TO TRY TO PUT SENSIBLE PEOPLE IN CHARGE OF OUR POWERFUL SYSTEMS… AND TO VOTE OUT IDIOTS!!! WHICH IS WHY I AM CERTAIN THAT DONALD TRUMP WILL BE A ONE TERM PRESIDENT… IF THAT!!! DEMOCRACY IS MESSY… BUT ULTIMATELY… IT WORKS… BECAUSE MOST AMERICANS ARE NOT BRAIN WASHED IDIOTS WHO BELIEVE IN CHILDISH IDEOLOGIES… AS YOU APPEAR TO DO!!!

U.S. Imperial Wars: Militarism in West Asia and the Horn of Africa: The Need for Antiwar Solidarity
By Abayomi Azikiwe, November 01 2016
Many of the wars waged by United States imperialism around the world remain largely hidden from people inside the country. This represents a challenge for the antiwar and anti-imperialist movements in North America which are grappling with how to move forward amid a national presidential and congressional election which has failed to address any substantial issues domestic and international.

Glass-Steagall introduced in US Congress—it’s now Trump’s move
The 1933 Glass-Steagall banking separation policy has been reintroduced into the US Congress, and now the focus is whether President Trump’s administration will follow through on his 26 October campaign pledge to enact a “21st Century Glass-Steagall”.
This is timely to say the least, as more and more signs are pointing to a new, far worse financial crash than that of 2008. The Italy-centred European banking crisis threatens both London, where most of the derivatives infecting the European banks are traded, and Wall Street, which has a US$2 trillion exposure to European banks. British banking experts are warning that eight years after the last crash the UK’s banks still are not safe. Wall Street’s biggest Too-Big-To-Fail banks are holding hundreds of trillions of dollars of dangerous derivatives bets that are many times their assets: JPMorgan’s are 20 times their assets, Citibank’s 28 times, Morgan Stanley’s 34 times, and Goldman Sachs’ 51 times! And Australia is experiencing a rise in mortgage delinquencies, such that the number of households behind in payments rose 25 per cent last year, while the number behind by three months or more jumped 41 per cent—another threat to the property bubble that will bankrupt Australia’s derivatives-addicted banks when it bursts.
Only a full Glass-Steagall separation of commercial banking that serves everyday people and the real economy, from investment banking that gambles in dangerous derivatives, will protect the economy from another financial crash.
Knowing this, US Congressional Representatives Marcy Kaptur (Democrat-Ohio), Walter Jones (Republican-North Carolina), Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) and Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) spoke at a press conference on 1 February where Kaptur announced the launch of the Return to Prudent Banking Act (H.R. 790), which includes the restoration of Glass-Steagall. The bill already has 27 co-sponsors.
Kaptur said: “President Donald Trump even endorsed the call for ‘a 21st-Century version of Glass-Steagall’ during a campaign statement in Charlotte, North Carolina. We have an obligation to work with him to achieve that.” An Ohio-centred delegation presented Kaptur with 650 letters to President Trump and asked her to deliver them, which she pledged to “find a way to do”.
Meanwhile the open discussion on Glass-Steagall continued at the White House, where President Trump’s press secretary Sean Spicer was asked by Bill Jones of Executive Intelligence Review whether Trump still supported Glass-Steagall. Jones noted President Trump’s unequivocal support for Glass-Steagall during the campaign and the demand for Glass-Steagall in the Republican Party platform. But, Jones said, Treasury Secretary-designate Steven Mnuchin, when queried about it by Senator Maria Cantwell, the author of the Senate Glass-Steagall bill, gave an ambiguous answer. “Where does the President stand?” Jones asked.
(In his confirmation hearing, Mnuchin was cagey about Glass-Steagall, saying he didn’t support restoring it “as is”, but a “21st century” version of it; the former Goldman Sachs partner’s reasons are easily refuted. Mnuchin has been staunchly opposed by Democrats on the Senate Economics Committee for his fraudulent practices as head of OneWest bank regarding mortgage foreclosures. However those Democrats didn’t mention that Mnuchin’s business partner in that bank is billionaire megaspeculator George Soros, whose financial empire is a front for City of London financial interests, who effectively owned Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, and who uses his billions to smash nations economically, through currency raids etc., and politically, through so-called “colour revolutions”.)
Spicer then went into a lengthy comment about the need for the President’s nominees, including Mnuchin, to be voted on by the Senate before President Trump can proceed on his agenda. Jones pressed him: “Then the President still supports Glass-Steagall?” To which Spicer responded: “The President’s position is consistent.”
What will Australia do? That is up to you
If the United States reinstates Glass-Steagall, then where will that leave Australia? Either we continue to act as a loyal British geopolitical asset in the Asia-Pacific with a housing bubble getting bigger by the day, or resume the direction of the Curtin-Roosevelt alliance and develop our nation with infrastructure financed by a national bank, and join the One Belt, One Road led by the world’s faraway leader in economic growth, China, which has had Glass-Steagall banking separation since 1993.

WHAT AN IDIOT YOU ARE!!! WHICH KINDERGARTEN DID YOU DROP OUT OF… OR DID THEY KICK YOU OUT FOR BEING SUCH A BRAIN WASHED IDIOT??? THE USA DOES LITTLE PREACHING… IT LEADS BY EXAMPLE! AND WHILE THE RICH REPUBLICANS IN THIS NATION ARE OVERWHELMINGLY RICH AND POWERFUL… REAL ECONOMIC, SOCIAL, AND POLITICAL POWER IN THE USA LIES IN ITS MIDDLE AND LOWER INCOME CLASSES!!! ALL THOSE FOLKS HAVE TO DO IS TO WISE UP AND START VOTING FOR THEIR OWN BEST INTERESTS… AND THE RICH REPUBLICANS WHO HAVE SUCH A GREAT DEAL OF CONTROL OVER THIS NATION WOULD HAVE TO START KISSING WORKERS REAR ENDS, INSTEAD OF IT BEING THE OTHER WAY AROUND!!! IN FACT… THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED IN THE EARLY 1930’S… THE NEW DEAL TOOK MOST OF THE ECONOMIC, SOCIAL, AND POLITICAL POWER OUT OF THE HANDS OF RICH CONSERVATIVES… AND GAVE IT TO MIDDLE CLASS AND WORKING CLASS DEMOCRATS, WHO USED THAT POWER TO CREATE THE RICHEST AND MOST POWERFUL NATION ON EARTH! RICH REPUBLICANS HAVE BEEN GETTING MIGHTY ARROGANT AND GREEDY AND SELFISH OVER THE PAST 40 YEARS OR SO… SO ITS JUST ABOUT TIME FOR A NEW NEW DEAL… AND UNLESS REPUBLICANS WISE UP AND LIGHTEN UP… THEY ARE GOING TO GET A NEW NEW DEAL IMPOSED UPON THEM… HOPEFULLY IN A DEMOCRATICLY GENERATED WAY!!! NOW… GO LOOK UP THE NEW DEAL, AND READ HOW THAT REALLY WORKED, AND HOW IT HELPED MAKE THE USA THE WORLDS MOST POWERFUL AND GENERALLY PROSPEROUS NATION!!!

  • JohnDille

WHERE DID I SAY THAT??? NOWHERE!!! WE HAVE OUR SERIOUS POLITICAL AND SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC PROBLEMS… BUT THE UNITED STATES IS STILL A DEMOCRACY… ALBEIT ONE THAT IS STRONGLY INFLUENCED BY THE RICH REPUBLICANS WHO ALSO OWN AND CONTROL MOST OF THE CRITICAL ASSETS IN THIS NATION!!! AND THAT IS WHY RICH REPUBLICANS SPEND SO MUCH TRYING TO KEEP THEIR REPUBLICAN PUPPETS SO WELL BRAIN WASHED… IF THOSE FOLKS FINALLY WISED UP AND VOTED FOR THEIR OWN BEST INTERESTS, THE REPUBLICAN PARTY WOULD DRY UP AND BLOW AWAY!!!

  • JohnDille

GO BACK TO READING YOUR LITTLE KIDDIE BOOKS AND OTHER RIGHT WING COMIC BOOKS!!! YOU KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT REAL ACTUAL AMERICAN HISTORY… OR ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT IT ALL REALLY MEANS!!! EVEN LITTLE KIDS KNOW THAT ENGLAND INVADED THE US JUST OVER 200 YEARS AGO… EVER HEAR OF THE WAR OF 1812??? AS FOR THE HISTORY OF EUROPE… SINCE THE UNITED STATES IS PRIMARILY A DESCENDANT OF MOSTLY EUROPEAN NATIONS, OF COURSE WE DEFEND EUROPE… MOST ESPECIALLY BECAUSE IT SERVES AS PRIMARY TRADING PARTNERS… AND BECAUSE IT SERVES AS A BUFFER BETWEEN THE USA AND THE FORMER SOVIET UNION!!! IF EUROPE FALLS… WE ARE LIKELY TO FALL!!!! COLONIALISM IS ANCIENT… IT HAS BEEN GOING ON AT LEAST SINCE THE RISE OF EMPIRES IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND THE INDIAN SUB CONTINENT STARTING OVER 5,000 YEARS AGO!!! IF YOU HAD ANY EDUCATION AT ALL, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT! YOU WOULD ALSO KNOW THAT NATIONS HAVE GROWN FROM CITY STATES, PRIMARILY BY CONQUEST AND BY STRONG TRADE ASSOCIATIONS AND MUTUAL DEFENSE TREATIES AND SUCH! THAT IS ALSO AN ANCIENT MECHANISM!!! THE UNITED STATES HAS VERY LITTLE CONTROL OVER ANY OTHER NATION.. WE DO NOT CONTROL CANADA NOR AUSTRALIA, AS YOU STUPIDLY ASSERT!!! ISRAEL IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING THE SMARTEST NATION ON EARTH!!! IF THEY WERE SO SMART, THEY WOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN THEMSELVES INTO THE DANGEROUS POSITION THEY ARE IN! ISRAEL COULD EASILY CEASE TO EXIST WITHIN AS LITTLE AS ONE WEEK, IF ITS ARAB NEIGBORS FINALLY DECIDED TO WORK TOGETHER TO ELIMINATE ISRAEL…. A NATION THAT EXISTS TODAY ONLY BECAUSE JEWS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD… BUT MOST ESPECIALLY FROM THE USA AND EUROPE… EFFECTIVELY WALKED INTO AN AREA POPULATED… 98% ACCORDING TO THE CENSUS OF 1918… BY PALESTINIANS… MOSTLY ARABS! DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT TRYING TO LECTURE ME ON HISTORY… I CLEARLY KNOW AND UNDERSTAND IT FAR FAR FAR BETTER THAN YOU EVER WILL!!!

Your conclusion is that you do not live in a democracy. Secondly, you want to challenge the constitution that has set up the way the president is elected. For your info the president is not elected by popular votes but by the electoral college.

  • winmeer

Your conclusion is that the US leaders have been all over the world “preaching” that others must copy the American type democracy which is a total failure at home at looking after most of its people. Its like a TSARIST Russia where only the rich prosper.

  • winmeer

    1. (a)Who invaded the US (2016-200=) 1816 years ago? (b) When did the USA become a nation? Have you read/heard about a civil war? (c) The history of the continent would suggest that the native peoples were invaded/decimated by starving, land hungry Europeans escaping that same Europe the US is defending and spending its resources to keep them economically viable.
2.Wars. There has been no peace. Its the US that has been caught up defending colonial Europeans keeping their hegemony in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Chile, Argentina, Central America, Korea
    3. The state of Israel is the smartest nation on earth as it controls the political and economic life of English speaking peoples enslaving them to work for them. Good on them.
    4. The US has all the mineral resources it needs as it controls Canada and Australia.

  • JohnDille

IT IS CALLED PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH… AND IT WORKS!!! IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN 200 YEARS SINCE ANYBODY TRIED TO INVADE THE UNITED STATES, EVEN THOUGH THE WORLD HAS ENDURED 2 WORLD WARS… AND HUNDREDS OF LESSER REGIONAL WARS, IN THAT SAME TIME PERIOD!!! MILITARY WEAKNESS LEADS TO WAR!!! MILITARY STRENGTH… IF WISELY USED… KEEPS THE PEACE… AND OVERWHELMING UNITED STATES MILITARY POWER HAS PREVENTED MANY DOZENS OF MAJOR WARS THAT WOULD HAVE OTHERWISE OCCURRED IN NATIONS ALL OVER THE PLANET!!! YOUR PRESIDENT TRUMP IS A TOTAL IDIOT… AND THE ONLY THING HE IS GOING TO ACCOMPLISH IS TO BANKRUPT THE USA… AND START A LOT OF STUPID WARS IN NATIONS HALF WAY AROUND THE PLANET!!!

Who/What is/are American Nation/Leaders afraid of? The most powerfully armed State in the world is the USA. It does not need bases overseas to defend itself. Only colonial empires have standing troops on the ground to control the population. It has threatened other Nations and has attacked weak, industrially dead end Nations that it foolishly armed in the first place -Sadam in Iraq, rebels in Afghanistan- after taking advice from ignorant Kings from Saudi Arabia and UK, France (Presidents). As a stronger nation the US should be giving advice to them not the other way round. The US leadership have been duped time and time again. Hopefully Trump will be assertive and bring these same troops that have been trying to rebuild infrastructure for bombed countries overseas to do the same in the USA.

  • winmeer

The US leaders in Senate and house of Reps have been duped and continues to be seduced by overseas “friends”-Israel, Britain, Japan, France- which use US soldiers as “mercenaries”. Notice these countries do not pay for care and medical assistance medical of the “damaged” US troops that return home. US spent $trillions on giving support to these Nations rather than its own citizens/inner cities.
    1. Israel. America spends $3bn a year in largely military assistance – one-sixth of its direct aid budget – to help a prosperous, nuclear-armed country, and strongly backs Israel in negotiations on Middle East peace. Furthermore, this past year under Obama: The US has approved the biggest arms deal in history: a $38 billion agreement to supply Israel with jets, bombs, missiles and military support for the next 10 years. In addition, there also $billions of US aide spent on providing dwellings/homes for settlers. Then there is the vast exit of $trillions from US business to Israel. Two US academics, John Mearsheimer of the University of Chicago and Stephen Walt of Harvard, have set out to answer those questions, and triggered a firestorm of controversy as a result.
Their book The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy, which builds on a 2006 article in the London Review of Books, says the reasons for US support for Israel need to be explained. The book analyses the lobby’s sources of influence – notably its financial muscle and the reluctance of critics to speak out.
Pro-Israeli contributions to US campaigns dwarf those of Arab-Americans or Muslim groups.
But according to Mearsheimer and Walt, the US gets remarkably little in return. Israel broke US arms deal terms”. It spies on the US and sells US military secrets to others.
Israel probably violated the terms of its arms deals with Washington by using US-made cluster bombs in Lebanon last year, a US government report says.

    2. Britain, France since the Suez debacle has used the US military to control the oil and mineral resources of Africa for their use. Hence the terrorists producing Nation of Saudi Arabia is protected and the neighboring States it tries to control are bombed by the US. Neither Britain, France, Saudi Arabia, Israel singularly or collectively can do so. Hence the continual war in Africa goes on to keep Europe wealthy and Africa in poverty. The cost to the US is in $trillions. Ie the US is helping them to be colonial rulers in these countries.
    3. NATO. Russian has never attacked the USA. These two countries have never had to fight over anything. The U.S. diplomat George Kennan articulated this perspective in a 1998 interview, shortly after the U.S. Senate approved the first round of NATO expansion. “I think the Russians will gradually react quite adversely and it will affect their policies,” he said. “I think it is a tragic mistake. There was no reason for this whatsoever. No one was threatening anyone else.”
    4. One fact is clear and it is that the Western Europeans have the desire to control and take the vast mineral wealth of Russia as they do in Africa. As with Africa they have no intention of have a fair trade with Russia. Us troops in EUROPE has spent $tillions and hence contribute that much to the European economy. The withdrawal of US troops would cost their economies.
    5. China. It is Japan that has been the aggressor in the Pacific. It is using the US to protect it from the Koreans and other Nations that it almost destroyed.

  • JohnDille

MOSTLY, NATO PAYS FOR ITSELF… AND THE COST IS BILLIONS, NOT TRILLIONS!!! ON TOP OF THAT… NATO IS OUR FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE, AS ARE ALL OUR OTHER MILITARY BASES AROUND THE WORLD!!! IF THEY ARE ATTACKED, WE ARE IN A POSITION TO STOP MOST ATTACKS LONG BEFORE THOSE ATTACKS HIT US HERE AT HOME… ALL THANKS TO NATO AND SEATO AND OUR OTHER DEFENSE TREATIES AND OTHER FORWARD… FOREIGN… MILITARY BASES AND ASSETS!!! OF COURSE, EVERY GRADE SCHOOL KID WHO HAS A DECENT EDUCTION KNOWS THAT! TOO BAD THAT YOU AND ALL THE OTHER TRUMP SUPPORTERES FLUNKED OUT OF KINDERGARTEN!!!

  • daniel1154

Trump lost? Could have sworn he took the oath of office on January 20th. How about all those other Democraps that lost in the Senate, House and Governorships. The Democrap party is lower than whale dung these days, and come 2018 headed lower. They’re going to lose 8 – 10 Senate seats in the next election.

  • JohnDille

WHEN IS THE REPUBLICAN PARTY GOING TO COME TO GRIPS WITH THE REALITY THAT TRUMP LOST… BY ALMOST 3 MILLION VOTES… EVEN WITH THE HELP OF THE RUSSIANS AND SUPER RICH FAR RIGHT FASCIST BILLIONAIRES… AND EVEN WITH THE HELP OF NUMEROUS GERRYMANDERED STATES, WORKING IN FAVOR OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY… AND EVEN WITH THE SUPPORT OF TENS OF MILLIONS OF BRAIN WASHED PUPPETS LIKE YOU??? POOR REPUBLICANS… JUST A BUNCH OF BRAINLESS LOSERS!!!

  • daniel1154

Last 22 years? Republicans even blocked their own President? When is the Democrat party going to come to grips with the fact that they lost the election?

  • JohnDille

REPUBLICANS HAVE BEEN BLOCKING PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING FOR THE LAST 22 YEARS… ESPECIALLY ANYTHING THAT WOULD MAKE AMERICA BETTER FOR ORDINARY PEOPLE! THAT IS WHY REPUBLICANS ARE FIGHTING AMONG THEMSELVES SO MUCH IN RECENT YEARS…. THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS IMPLODING!!! RICH RIGHT WINGERS ARE FIGHING AGAINST EVEN RICHER AND MORE EXTREMIST RIGHT WINGERS… AND ALL OF THE REPUBLICAN PUPPETS ARE CONFUSED AS TO WHOM THEY SHOULD BE SUPPORTING!!! BECAUSE NO REPUBLICAN WOULD EVER DO ANYTHING THAT IS ACTUALLY GOOD FOR THE UNITED STATES AND ITS WORKING PEOPLE!!!

  • JohnDille

SO… YOU BELIEVE ALL THE REPUBLICAN HORSE MANURE ABOUT FEDERAL DEBT AND FEDERAL SPENDING??? IT MAY COME AS A SHOCK TO YOU THAT ALL OF THAT BALONEY IS JUST SELF SERVING REPUBLICAN LIES! FIRST OF ALL… REPUBLICANS DELIBERATELY GENERATED ALL OF THAT DEBT… TO SERVE THE BEST INTERESTS OF THEIR UPER RICH SUPPORTERS. MORE THAN 80% OF ALL FEDERAL DEBT AROSE BECAUSE OF MASSIVE TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH AND FOR GIANT CORPORATIONS, ENACTED BY REAGAN AND GEORGE BUSH JINIOR… AND BY THE MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF MONIES BORROWED TO PAY THE INTEREST ON THOSE MASSIVE TAX CUTS… MOST OF WHICH WENT TO THE VERY SAME RICH WHO GOT THEIR TAXES CUT BY REPUBLICANS!!! DON’T BELIEVE IT??? LOOK IT UP AND RUN THE NECESSARY NUMBERS!!! SECOND…. MOST OF THE MONEY SPENT BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT… GOES DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY TO THE RICH… AND THA IS THE WAY THAT REPUBLICANS DESIGNED THE SYSTEM!!! THAT WAS TRUE UNDER DEMOCRATS, A WELL… BUT THE DIFFERENCE WAS THAT MOST AMERICANS BENEFITTED FROM THAT SYSTM… AND THE RICH HAD TO PAY MOST OF WHAT THEY GOT BACK… IN THE FORM OF MUCH HIGHER WAGES FOR ORDINARY PEOPLE… AND IN MUCH HIGHER TAXES!!! REPUBLICANS CAME ALONG AND DESTROYED THAT SYSTEM…. AND HERE WE ARE… DEEP DEEP DEEP IN DEBT… AND WITH NOTHING BUT EXTREME INCOME AND WEALTH INEQUALITY TO SHOW FOR IT!!! AND FINALLY… ABOUT ALL OF THAT DEBT!!! REPUBLICANS LOVE CORPORATE AND INDIVIDUAL AND GOVERNMENT DEBT… BECAUSE THEY OWN NEARLY ALL OF IT… AND COLECT TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS A YEAR IN INTEREST ON IT!!! WIPING OUT ALL OF THAT DEBT… WHICJH WE COULD DO LITERALLY OVER NIGHT… WOULD DESTROY MANY REALLY RICH REPUBLICANS… AND THEY WOULD NOT STAND FOR THAT!!! THOSE ARE THE HARD COLD FACTS… AND REPUBLICANS CAN HATE ON ME FOR TELLING THE TRUTH… OR THEY CAN REALIZE THAT RICH REPUBLICANS HAVE SWINDLED ALL OF US… BIG TIME… FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL BENEFIT!!! IDIOT CRIMINAL REPUBLICAN TRAITORS!!!

  • daniel1154

Republicans blocked nothing. It passed and was handed to the public employee unions so they could remain footsoldiers for the Democrat party. Did not good though, the Democrat party imploded anyway because it is the enemy of working people.

Maybe when the politicians jettison the belief that America “polices” the world then the trillions spent on NATO and bases around can be spent on improving the lives of Americans such as rebuilding infrastructures, cities and transport networks. The Europeans have a simple but maybe true view of Americans and it is this. Give them a taste of the pomp of Royalty to boost their ego and the “their status driven ego” will fund any enterprise/war they want them to pursue. This is precisely what Thatcher did to Regan, Bush, Powell and now they are about to do to President Trump. But will he take the bait? Abandon Americans and provoke war across the globe?

  • JohnDille

REPUBLICANS BLOCKED ALL OF THAT, BECAUSE MOST OF THAT MONEY WOULD NOT HAVE GONE TO RICH REPUBLICANS FOR PROJECTS THAT MOSTLY BENEFIT RICH REPUBLICANS!!!

  • daniel1154

Didn’t Obama spend a trillion dollars in stimulus, shovel ready jobs, to fix the nations infrastructure? Just more money stolen by the Democrats from the taxpayers to feed to their public employee union cronies.

Clearly our debt is going to choke us to death, particularly if interest rates go up. It isn’t quite this simple, but it illustrates the point…if we have 20 Trillion in debt (which is about our GNP now), just a 5% interest rate would cost us 1 Trillion in interest expense. Our latest intake of taxes for 2016 is expected to be 3 Trillion (for the first time!). About 64% of the 3.8 Trillion budget expenditure is mandatory (2.4 Trillion). In a balanced budget (where expenditures do not exceed revenues), this leave .6 Trillion dollars to fund 1 Trillion in interest expense. Nothing is left for discretionary spending.

The only way to get us out this hole is to fire up our economy…cutting spending is not going to do it alone (although it would be a good show of commitment by our leaders), especially if inflation kicks in (a whole different topic about how the government is devaluing our dollar by “printing” more money to pay for its out of control debt). Unless the economy spools up, the middle class (the actual source of tax revenues besides corporations) the middle class will be extinguished under the burden of taxes, which will accelerate our demise. We must get the economy going to give us time to fix our mess.

ANYTHING that contributes to getting the economy going is better than what lies in store for us on the current path.

ISN’T IT REALLY REALLY STRANGE THAT MOST OF AMERICA’S ONCE STATE OF THE ART, JUST ABOUT THE BEST IN THE WORLD INFRASTRUCTURE WAS BUILT WAY WAY BACK WHEN DEMOCRATS RAN AMERICA??? AND ISN’T IT EQUALLY STRANGE THAT OUR INFRASTRUCTURE HAS FALLEN APART DURING AN ERA WHEN REPUBLICANS HAVE BEEN GETTING EVER RICHER AND EVER MORE POWERFUL??? HMMM… I GUESS IT WILL BE A GOOD THING THAT RUMP WILL SPEND TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF TAXPAYER MONEY BUILDING INFRASTRUCTURE THAT MOSTLY BENEFITS BIG OIL AND GAS COMPANIES, AND OTHER GIANT CORPORATIONS AND THEIR RICH OWNERS…. WHILE SPENDING LITTLE… IF ANYTHING… ON OUR WATER AND SEWER SYSTEMS AND SCHOOLS AND OTHER INFRASTRUCTURE THAT MOSTLY BENEFIT ORDINARY PEOPLE!!! BUT THEN… THAT IS WHAT REPUBLICANS ARE REALLY ALL ABOUT…. REWARDING THE RICH FOR BEING RICH…. AND STOMPING ALL OVER WORKING PEOPLE, IN ORDER TO PUNISH THEM FOR BEING MERE PEONS, ORDINARY PEOPLE WHO EXIST ONLY TO SERVE AND ENRICH THE RICH AND POWERFUL RIGHT WINGER REPUBLICANS WHO TOTALLY OWN AND CONTROL THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!
